Fidelity & Friends helping project for hope 2018
2017 Update
In 2017 Fidelity and Friends raised $11,338 for a key initiative at Project For Hope: helping launch our workshop to train ladies in our program, with no skills, to create fine leather items such as handbags and accessories by hand. Your donations funded the remodeling of our workshop, furniture and tool purchases all to create our workshop where our ladies have been in training and creating throughout 2017. There were unexpected obstacles and training took longer than we planned but the results we’re seeing are impressive. See the photos below of the some of the items we’ve created and the workspace funded by your donations that made the beginning of “Esperanza Handmade” possible. Thank You for your generosity!
For 2018 we’re raising funds for the raw materials needed to begin full-time manufacturing of handbags, wallets, journals and accessories. The 3,000 square feet of vegetable tanned leather ($13,000) we’ll be purchasing will allow us to begin production and will provide fair wage jobs for at least 6 ladies in desperate need of employment, one of them is Elizabeth. Below is a short video to introducing her. Though living in extreme poverty, incredible changes are happening in her life as a result of participating in our program. Here children come with her each day and are receiving an excellent education and participate in our daily feeding program. While working she is also completing her middle and high school studies. A dream that she thought would never be possible. She’s also become a very talented leatherworker thanks to Fidelity & Friends - Thank You!
